Church Planter Application Process Church planter screening gives local churches greater confidence in selecting a pastor to lead a new church plant. Given the mistakes that have been made in the past and the crude caricatures of what a church planter is supposed to be like it is good to know that the ASAP approach is built on solid research both here in Australia and overseas. An overview of the process is found below. Web Based Self-AssessmentThis self assessment tool helps anyone in training or ministry work who thinks that they may be suited to leading a church planting team to check their own actions and gifts against objective research findings. The score at the end places the interested person into one of 4 categories. Those who find themselves in the potential church planter category are encouraged to take the application process further. Application The application form is a word document available for download from the church planting website. The application is filled out and then sent in to the email address found in the document. 360 degree Questionnaire A questionnaire is sent to the applicant and others that have served with him in ministry as a means assessing suitability for planting. Behaviour Based interview The interview gives opportunity for the ASAP team to meet the applicant, as well as their marital partner, if applicable. This interview further clarifies the applicant's suitability as a planter. Recommendations An assessment will be made of the applicant’s suitability for church planting and a recommendation will be made to the applicant in terms of the following categories. Category A → Suitable Potential Church Planter Category B → Suitable Potential Church Planter with good Supervision Category C → Church Plant Team Member with future possibilities Category D → Other Ministries outside Church Planting
